This standard is formulated in accordance with the current Chinese standards for the chemical composition of copper and copper alloy smelting and processing products, namely GB/T468-1997 "Copper Wire Ingots for Electrical Use", GB/T3952-1998 "Copper Wire Billets for Electrical Use", GB/T467-1997 "High-purity Cathode Copper" and "Standard Cathode Copper", and GB/T5231-2001 "Processed Copper and Copper Alloys" Based on the "Chemical Composition and Product Shape", the original national standards GB/5121-1996 "Chemical Analysis Methods for Copper and Copper Alloys" and GB/T13293-1991 "Chemical Analysis Methods for High-Purity Cathode Copper" were systematically revised. Advanced analytical techniques are adopted to replace toxic and harmful analytical methods, and hydride generation - non-dispersive atomic fluorescence spectrometry is used to replace catalytic oscillopolarography for the determination of arsenic, antimony, selenium, tellurium, etc. Seven new analytical methods were formulated and redrafted, including the inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry analysis method and the mercury analysis method, etc.
