Copper Rod
Copper rods have multiple uses, mainly divided into industrial applications and engineering fields:
1. Industrial applications Cable manufacturing: Copper rods are commonly used in the production of cables as the core material of copper cables. Electrical grounding: Copper rods are used in electrical engineering for electrical grounding systems to ensure the safe operation of equipment. Energy transmission: Oxygen free copper rods (with oxygen content below 20ppm) are widely used in the energy field to enhance conductivity.
2. Engineering field Welding materials: Copper welding rods are used for welding and repairing equipment such as chemical machinery and ship components. In addition, copper rods may also be used for precision assembly in satellite manufacturing, as well as for synthesizing electronic components such as navigation equipment.

Copper Rod
A copper rod is a solid piece of copper, typically cylindrical in shape, used for its high electrical and thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance. It serves as a fundamental component in electrical wiring and grounding systems, where it conducts electricity safely and reliably. Copper rods are also used in various other applications, such as in the creation of jewelry, art, and mechanical parts, as they can be bent, cut, and soldered.

Key properties
High conductivity
Copper is an excellent conductor of both electricity and heat.
Corrosion resistance
It resists rust and corrosion, which makes it suitable for long-lasting applications.
Ductility and malleability
It is relatively soft and can be easily bent, shaped, and worked with for different projects.

Electrical applications: Copper rods are vital for electrical infrastructure, forming the core of many cables and acting as grounding rods to protect against electrical surges and lightning strikes.
Grounding systems: When hammered into the ground, a copper ground rod provides a low-resistance path for excess electrical energy to flow safely into the earth, preventing damage to equipment and protecting against electric shock.
DIY and crafts: The malleability of copper makes its rods ideal for crafting projects, including jewelry, decorative items, and functional components like miniature axles for model airplanes and ships.
Other industrial uses: They are also used in plumbing, as they are corrosion-resistant and have good heat transfer properties.
Manufacturing: Copper rods are the starting material for many other copper products, such as fine wire, cables, and various machine parts.
The production method directly impacts the final quality of the rod. Today, standard global copper rod is produced exclusively through Continuous Casting and Hot Rolling (CCR), encompassing the following 8 steps, which are fully discussed on our dedicated “Copper Rod from Cathode” page:
• Melting in a Shaft Furnace.
• Holding the melt in the Holding Furnace.
• Casting and Producing the Billet.
• Billet Preparation in the Shaving Machine.
• Rolling.
• Rod Cooling in the Quenching System.
• Packaging in the Coiler Machine.
• Final Product: Coiled Copper Rod Pallets.

Standard Packing:
Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 440 gallon liquid totes Special package is available on request.
